Reggae Slays the Gorgon every third Wednesday at Medusa Lounge with Solomonic Sound, Rascul Int’l, and Ital Sound! Three of Philly’s most experienced Roots Reggae crews have joined forces for the delight of music fans as they take Philly’s conscious Reggae scene to the next level! While all the crews share a common bond through their intense love for Reggae music, each selector brings a different flavor to the musical meal. Solomonic’s Rob Paine draws on a deep treasure chest of music which is overflowing with classic gems as well as the latest and greatest hits of today and tomorrow. Papa Fz represents within the Solomonic crew as the lovers rock master! Rascul Int’l flings a selection that spans the Atlantic Ocean with both UK and JA dub stylee, steppers and roots. From the Ital family, Ras Heights AKA Tallman combines his love of heavyweight 70’s roots and dub with a modern Rasta sensibility as he selects from an arsenal of both the popular and the obscure. Ital’s Adamwest loves exploring and tracing ‘riddims’ from their blueprints, often spinning classic versions alongside modern day counterparts. Friday, June 18 | We Snackin

Philly is getting artists from all over the world coming through this summer and We Snackin’ is proud to present Brooklyn Fire Recordings producer Turbo P. Recently signed to Tommy Sunshine’s label, Turbo P has been pumping out remixes and original works faster than I can pound a Four Loko (and trust me it’s fast, I could probably shotgun one if it weren’t for fear of an exploding heart). Turbo P will be rocking a live production set at We Snackin’. This being Turbo P’s first gig in Philadelphia we plan to do it up big. You might have gotten some of his remixes of Benzi’s/D.Star’s DDS service, or on a few collabs with Tommie Sunshine. Hell his Ruff ‘n Rugged track is a staple in my sets. But if you haven’t heard him you’re going to now. Your resident DJs Whowe & Big Snax will be there keeping the night going smoothly. This event is 21+, no cover, cheap drinks and it’s going to get real deep and real personal, real quick.
